100% Natural Shea Butter

Shea Butter is an off-white or ivory-colored fat extracted from the nut of the African shea tree. Shea trees are found exclusively in the African Sahel, a semi-arid region south of the Sahara Desert. The Shea tree is native to Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sudan, Togo and Uganda. Shea trees grow between 150-200 years.

The Shea Butter that we use for ManeAttentions’s Whipped Shea Butter is raw or unrefined, it was extracted using water.

Shea butter provides natural UV protection. Having some UV protection enables our hair to retain its natural vibrancy, color treatments and softness.

The emollient or softening quality of shea butter makes it useful for hair. It is easily and quickly absorbed when applied topically. Shea butter is very dense. Africans have been using shea butter as a hair dressing for hundreds of years. This application is highly recommended for super thick, curly, kinky or dry hair.

Benefits of using shea butter include,

  • Prevents dryness of the skin & hair, highly moisturizing for skin and hair
  • Protects hair and skin from the sun
  • Soothes burns
  • Prevents and treats scalp dryness
  • Provides good lubrication for the hair resulting in improved brilliance and manageability
  • Soothing, moisturizing and protecting effects

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

Since finding Shea Butter I can definitely say that my hair retains moisture for longer periods of time without much build-up. And since perfecting our Whipped Shea Butter Mix, my hair has thrived.  When styling my hair, I always make sure to spritz my hair with water prior to applying my Whipped Shea Butter Mix and almost instantly my strands are soft, fluffy and have more elasticity. I can actually comb through my 4c textured hair with no breakage if I use my Whipped Shea Butter Mix and a little water.

Shea Butter is thick or dense enough to coat your strands and lock in moisture but since it is a natural product-it is also absorbed by our hair which means there is no greasy feeling coating your skin, scalp or strands. For this reason as well, it washes out quite easily. ManeAttention’s Whipped Shea Butter Mix can be applied daily, if needed, to keep your hair moisturized as often as needed.
